Tattoo Aftercare with saniderm Wrap

 

  • Wear bandage for 1-3 hours. Remove bandage in clean area (at home), wash hands with an antibacterial soap then wash tattoo thoroughly. Rinse well, pat dry with clean paper towel and allow to air dry 5-10 minutes. Apply a very light layer of ointment, we have ointments available for purchase or we recommend Aquaphor.
  • Repeat process 2-3 times a day, for 3-5 days.
  • Always wash hands before washing the tattoo and always wash the old ointment or lotion off before applying more. after the tattoo stops peeling you may use a FRAGRANCE FREE lotion.
  • DO NOT rebandage the tattoo. DO NOT soak the tattoo. NO swimming or baths - showering is okay. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, NO sunscreen until healed.  Avoid using gym equipment and activities involving profuse sweating.
  • The tattoo may itch during the healing. DO NOT pick or scratch.
  • Average healing time is 2 weeks. (depending on tattoo size, location and personal health)

  • The first bandage should stay on for 24 hours.
  • It is normal for blood and fluids to collect under the bandage.
  • After the first 24 hours, gently pull bandage off. Wash tattoo with an antibacterial soap thoroughly and rinse well. Pat dry with a clean paper towel and allow to air dry for 10-15 minutes. 
  • Cut bandage to appropriate size of tattoo, leaving a 1-2 inch margin from tattoo edge.
  • Peel off protective layer to expose adhesive side and gently apply bandage with light pressure. Peel of protective backing to complete the application. DO NOT stretch the bandage when applying.
  • Repeat this process daily until tattoo stops weeping (usually 3 days).
  • Wear last bandage for several days, but no longer than 6 days.
  • These bandages are waterproof and breathable, so they do not need to be changed daily if fluids are not present inside.

  • Avoid heavily spiced or spicy food for the first 2 weeks.
  • Clean mouth out with an ALCOHOL FREE mouthwash, every time the mouth is contaminated  with anything other than water. Oral rinse should be done at least 4 times a day.
  • It is recommended to take an anti inflammatory, such as ibuprofen to help with swelling. 
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking for the first week.

  • DO NOT twist and turn the piercing. This will only aggravate the piercing.
  • DO NOT touch your piercing, unless you are cleaning it with clean hands.
  • DO NOT apply soap directly to piercing. For facial piercing avoid apply make up and facial wash to the piercing for at least the first 2 weeks.
  • DO NOT change your piercing jewelry too soon, if you need your jewelry changed you can come in for us to change it for you. We can check to see if you piercing is healed enough and that the jewelry you would like to change it to is of good quality.
  • NO hydrogen peroxide, alcohol or neosporin.

  • Soak piercing in warm DISTILLED water twice a day. If piercing is located somewhere that can not be soaked in a cup, simply dip a paper towel or cotton ball (single use, no fabric towels) in the water and apply to piercing gently.
  • Apply a medical grade saline after the warm water soak. We have a saline product which is available for purchase.
